May Adventures (posted in July ha ha!)

Here are some fun pics from our adventures in May:

I knew from the time Kohler was a little baby that 2014 would be the year he would graduate and hopefully serve a mission.  Kohler turns 19 in August so the announcement from Pres. Monson about the YM being able to serve at 18 didn't change much for us.  We always knew he would leave the summer of 2014.  Boy, did it sure come fast!
Kohler and one of his closest friends, Conner McLeod were invited to the Golden Scholars Awards Ceremony.  They both kept up a 3.8 gpa or higher.  Way to go guys!!!
Yep---I was super proud of him!

Spencer auditioned for a musical play at his school called, "The Heart is Home" and it was about the children's book, "Flat Stanley."

I went down to the school and helped choreograph one of the dances.  It was so much fun!  These kids gave up their lunch recess and had after school practices a few times a week to get ready.
Not to be biased, because it's hard when your child is performing, but it was honestly one of the best school productions I have ever witnessed.  My sister, MaryKay came down with her kids and she couldn't believe that they had just learned the musical in just 6 weeks!  It was such a fun performance.

Hailey had a Parent vs. Student kickball game that Tom just had to be a part of.  Of course, the KIDS won!!
Hailey and her best little friend, Isobel Anderson.  Such cuties!

Hailey was so glad to have her daddy play with her!  They both have such cute smiles, don't they?

Kohler had a graduation party with a lot of his friends a few weeks before graduation.  He didn't want to do it the last week of graduation and it actually worked out so well for SO many kids to come.  I didn't know we could pack that many kids into our jacuzzi and pool!

Mother's Day---one of my favorite days ever.  Tom made me breakfast in bed and it was lovely!! I can't even begin to describe how much I love my children and how being a mother has been the greatest joy in my life.

With everything else we had going on we decided to sell our kitchen table, sell our red (faded hot pink! ha ha) couch and ottoman, re-paint our kitchen island, and add a granite counter.  Crazy!!!

The new couch has arrived, but the ottoman didn't come yet.
I am IN LOVE with my new island!!!
For Kohler's graduation/mission gift, I decided to have a quilt made from some memorable t-shirts that represent many of the activities Kohler participated in.  It turned out better than I expected!

Hailey and Spencer both played the piano in the Arizona Study Program up at ASU.  They had to memorize 4 pieces and take a very difficult theory exam.  They BOTH passed their exams and received SUPERIOR honors for their piano playing!  Way to go! I used to do this same sort of thing back in California.  It was called the California Guild of Piano Students and it was very similar to what Hailey and Spencer went through.  Let me tell you, it's not easy and it takes many hours of practicing!  But in the end, it's quite an achievement and SO worth it!
Spencer gave a report on Switzerland complete with Swiss cheese and Swiss chocolate samples!
