Hawaii Trip Memories

Aloha!  Our family got back from Hawaii about 2 weeks ago and we are still talking about how much we miss that place!  We stayed on the island of Oahu in Ko'Olina on the west side of the island.  Gorgeous--doesn't even begin to describe the beauty of this incredible place!

We had to change planes in SLC---Hawaii, here we come!

We are here!  Doesn't that water look amazing?

After we got settled into our resort, we got back into our rental car and headed to North Shore to visit some friends of ours at their home.  The beach is their backyard.  How would that be?!?

Here's Kohler and Tom with Lanny and Deena Morton.  They were so fun to show us around and let the kids go night snorkeling!

On our second day, we went out on a huge catamaran called the "Ocean Joy."  We went snorkeling and saw sea turtles and I even saw a small white-tip shark!  Yes---that scared me a little, I will admit!  There was a photographer on board that took photos and we were able to purchase a CD of all the amazing photos.  We actually saw these spinner dolphins right off our boat.  It was the most incredible thing I have ever seen!  A entire pod of these dolphins were swimming right along our boat, jumping, diving, and spinning along the way.  We were all screaming---it was SO cool!!!

Here we are dressed for church on Sunday.  The funny thing is, that we got directions to the nearest chapel, drove there just in time for sacrament meeting to start, but when we got there the chapel was under construction!!!
We headed over to the Honolulu Zoo where Hailey was in HEAVEN looking at all the tropical birds!!!  She knew the names of many of them from reading her Hawaiian Birds Book that her daddy gave her.

We love plumeria flowers!!  They smell divine.
One of our favorite days was going to Pearl Harbor.  We had headphones and took self-guided tours of the submarine, the battleship Mighty Mo--and then the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.

It truly is a sacred, humbling place to be.  Every American should have the chance to experience this.

 Beautiful pineapple fields
Laie Hawaii Temple - one of our favorite places on the island!

We even took a small tour of the BYU Hawaii Campus on our way to the Polynesian Cultural Center.  So fun!

Get ready to send those college applications in to BYU-H, my alma matter! Once there it seems it is the only place that you can enjoy an education.

I was skeptical until we walked around it. It was beautiful. How did you ever get anything done?
